The whole reason I bought this phone was b/c it has a speakerphone & voicedial already built in. I find the speakerphone to be sufficient if I keep the phone nearby. Most importantly if you buy the hands-free car kit for $59, you'll have great volume & sound. Everyone tells me they think I'm on a landline phone. Furthermore it tells me who is calling me, & asks me if i want to accept! The only complaints I have about this phone which i've had for a month now, is that there is no time/date stamp for recent calls--and also that it doesn't blink red when you have a voicemail. P.S. For some reason the folks at Sprint can't figure out if this phone has both a speakerphone & voicedial (or is it voice command-whatever it's the free one). Anyway, it does & it's one of a kind. Can't beat it for $99!

Neat little phone A good upgrade from the 2255. The phone is small and light weight the buttons are easy to uses. The only reason I did not give it a higher score is because the speaker is not loud enough.

nice features, but some problems

I had this phone before upgrading to the Sanyo 8100. This phone has a lot of nice features on it for a regular price of 99.00 and being free with a new customer rebate. It has the voice dialing, browser capabilities, and a speaker phone. And one thing I thought was really cool is that you can people's mailing addresses in the phone book part.
This phone did have some problems though. It would search a lot when you first turned it on. Sometimes it would kick into analog before it would find a Sprint tower. I would have to power cycle it before it would find one sometimes. And when I tried to make a call sometimes it would say connecting connecting conneting and never connect.
The problems I had may have just been something with my particular phone because my boyfriend also has this phone and he is happy with his-- so I wouldn't discourage anyone who wants a free phone from trying it.

I've had the phone for over two years now and have had some problems with it mostly due to the way I treat it (not very nicely).

PROS:
Reliable phone, decent sound quality, sturdy, OK battery life, and easy to use.

CONS:
I do occasionally have the phone freeze up, or turn off on its own; not too many times though. The speaker phone function on it is very low. The battery seems to fit a little loose so I've placed a dime inside the battery cover to hold it snug (worked great after that).

I like to keep my phones for a while until they really need replacing. Mine is up for renewal now. I've read good things about the Sanyo VI-2300. I'm going to get that phone.

Good for alittle while...........

Great phone with great reception for the first 12 months.......then it began malfunctioning. The phone would turn itself off. the key pad would lock up. I would have to pry the battery off and put it back on to "reset" the phone so to speak. Strange codes would come up on the screen. Everytime I went to the sprint store they were not very helpful b/c the phone had to "malfunction" in the store and it was randomly unreliable! Hopefully mine was an exception and not the rule. Good luck if you have it already.........if not, I would recommend the Nokia 3588i. I love mine!!!
