Actually I disagree with the above reviews...I find this to be a simple straight forward phone with a stunning MP3 player...the sound through my Shure S-310 pro earbuds is very, very good! Especially when tweaked...the B&O chip is better sounding than my iPhone 3GS!
I have no issues with the call quality either incoming or outgoing, so I'm not sure what others are experiencing...The connection where you live may be to blame...?
The phone is pretty basic and does what it needs to do...Verizon has the best coverage in the nation...my iPhone doesn't even work 1/3 of the time on ATT.
I like the feel, build quality and it's nice and light...rides well in the pocket.
This is a free phone (with contract) and I dig it...it simply works and has enough features to satisfy all but the power user boys and I will again say the music player is definitely better sounding than my iPhone's audio.

Lousy sound quality on both phone calls and music (sound is muddy - I struggled to tell what people were saying and vice-versa - on music, I had to turn up the volume to ridiculous levels to hear vocals and individual instruments - and even then the quality was poor. Plus there was a constant snap, crackle, pop in the background that completely spoiled the music experience.) The music player user interface is poorly designed and frustrating to use. No video. You cannot use music as ringtones. Camera is poor quality, no zoom and too slow to be useful for catching candid shots - or for much of anything. Touchscreen is just an annoying gimmick. Build appeared solid initially, but then I realized it was just flimsy plastic, enameled over to look like metal.
I gave it 1/2 a point 'cause it's pretty.
Returned.
Horrible

This phone is not even functional. Call quality is like a tin can, the touch pad in front is horrible, it mutes or turns on Bluetooth all the time. This phone is fail all over. The Microsoft kin is a better phone.
Piece of junk.

So I had an LG Chocolate 2 for the longest time, until it finally broke. I went over to Verizon to get a replacement. The sales guy kept insisting the Trance would be way better of a phone. I just felt like shutting the dude up, so I ended up with this worthless garbage. The call quality cuts out even with full service, The touch navigation buttons are a major annoyance, The lack of ANY video capabilities makes you feel like it's a fancy version of one of those first picture phones from like 2006, it's cheaply made. The only positive is when the music goes through your headphones and the eq is set to full treble and bass it sounds better than my ipod.
OVERALL:
PROS:
-Sound quality for music
-Storage size
CONS:
-Sketchy call quality
-Touch buttons are just an annoyance
-Freezes up
-Slow navigation
-Zero video capabilities
-Vibrate is too loud
-Resets Randomly throughout the day
-Cheaply made
-Doesn't lock touch buttons when calling
-Multiple incoming Texts causes it to freeze
-Overall piece of junk.
My advice, stay away from this phone. I want my chocolate back.
Puts you in Trance...the bad kind

PROS: Decent sound. Cool looking handset with gee-whiz sliding design.
CONS: Miserable touch screen design; it essentially is TOO sensitive. Cheap feeling; the sliding mechanism doesn't feel solid at all, neither does the bottom half of the phone.
SIGNAL/SOUND: Poor signal in my area, but that's just my area. Sound is decent.
OVERALL: A cheap handset designed for the 12-year-old girls out there. Don't bother; it's bottom of the barrel.
