Good Phone, No acessories

This is a good phone and I'm trying hard to overlook the fact that no accessories exist for it. I have visited 4 T-mobile stores, Walmarts, and several Best Buys. I am in need of a charger. The T-Mobile employees cringe when they see the phone in my hand. They know what I'm going to ask before I speak. They open all of the "universal" chargers and try them all. None ever work. I've returned several to the other stores. The charger that comes with the hand set works fine. If it breaks, you're out of luck.

I would not recommend this phone due to this issue.

Great Entry Level Phone

First off this is my daughters phone. For a preteen to teenager who can't get an Iphone this phone it perfect, she loves it, with this phone she gets her email, facebook and myspace everything she wants plus mobile web.

The only thing thing she doesn't like is no 3.5 audio jack, so no earbuds for her.

As far as a car/extra charger I have the Motorola Charm so when we're the car she just uses my car charger. It takes a Micro USB charger(for a travel charger I use an old Blackberry charger no problems)so any body that needs an extra charger should have no problems finding one, Samsung uses this type of charge for most of their newer phones.

Cut Those Corners!

The SGH-t479 (Gravity 3) for T-Mobile is a textbook case of cutting corners.

1- Almost empty box upon delivery. Phone, battery and charger - that's it. No wired hands-free, no USB-PC connectivity cable.

2- Navigation is a paid service. Long after Nokia has made free turn by turn navigation a fact of life in the mobile world T-Mobile and Samsung have teamed up to charge you $10.0 a month for it.

3- No separate headphone jack; no separate charger port; no separate microUSB port. This is the "multifunction port" which means no listening to your headphones while charging.

4- Not even a 64 mb microSD card is included. You are on your own for populating that slot.

5- The SIM card has a use by date on it. What's up with that?

6- The battery cover is one that you have pry/rip off, there is no release mechanism. How many battery changes/SIM card changes will it survive before it no longer fits right or outright breaks?

It is tempting to ask why they included the battery, back and charger in this very stripped down retail package. This cost cutting was not just retail packaging and the multi-function port.

7- The slider feels cheap. I've used Samsung sliders in the past and some have been wonderful (SGH-G600), some have been awful (SGH-U600). This falls in between.

8- The display is the industry standard small screen 320 x 240 resolution with the Samsung standard ~260K color depth. About the same display used on the SGH-D900 of 2006. No progress in four years is not a good sign.

The camera is a 2 mega-pixel sensor. The D900 had a 3.15 four years ago. Here there is regression, not progress.

There are some good aspects to this phone.

The QWERTY keyboard is easy to use.
The display is bright enough for inside use with no difficulties
Ring-tones are loud
The microSD card is not mounted under the battery
The camera takes good pictures for a 2 mega-pixel sensor

If this lasts until I'm eligible for my next upgrade I'll be surprised.
