international iPhone- prepaid SIM?

A friend in Australia has an international iPhone and will be travelling to the US for about a month. Is there is a way to get a pre-paid SIM with 3G for use in the US?

Dissatisfied iPhone users tick me off with their complaining.

iPhone users rant and moan that AT&T service is terrible (which I agree, I had a dumbphone with them and it got no service ever). Yet, iPhone users ALWAYS end their rants with "When Verizon gets the iPhone, I am dumping AT&T!"

So wait a minute, you hate AT&T but you are going to stay with them for a few more years? And by the way, there is ZERO confirmation that Verizon is even going to get the iPhone, it's all rumors at this point.

It's like this: People aren't willing to part with the iPhone because they are so drunk on it's koolaid, yet when they can't make calls, receive calls, or get voicemails, they moan like children about it.

Here's a reality check: either you suck it up and cancel your plan with AT&T and move on to anot...

AT&T issues with canceling phone from Amazon.

Hi. I ordered a LG Expo from amazon and was given the delivery date of 03-16. I checked with the UPS tracking system constantly and was eagerly awaiting my phone since 5am that morning. At 10pm on the 16th a new update came up informing me that the it shipped from NC after it was supposedly out-for-delivery from 5am that morning.

I'm giving them one more shot. I've spoken with both Amazon and UPS reps and they both assured me that I would get my phone on the 18th. If the phone does not come in I will cancel the order with Amazon.

Amazon says that I have to cancel AT&T service with AT&T. Am I going to get charged any kind of cancellation fee? Amazon's return policies sort of implied that I might be held to some penalty which AT&T may h...

SCARY! AT&T 911 cell phone calls in Salt Lake City restored; probe underway

I don't want to bash ATT but I think all carriers should be fined heavily for mistakes like this, in hopes they NEVER happen.

AT&T cell phone service calls to 911 have been restored and were routing normally by Friday morning, the Salt Lake City Police Department confirmed.
AT&T spokeswoman Brooke Burgess said her company "has launched a thorough investigation" to determine what caused the glitche, which began Thursday afternoon and extended well into the evening.
"Our first priority was to restore the service, and the situation was resolved about 11:30 p.m. Thursday," she said.
Salt Lake City police reported the glitch Thursday when AT&T customers complained their calls to 911 locally were being re-routed to Seattle.

AT&T Coverage

Can someone explain to me why anyone has the right to complain about AT&T's coverage? Granted, if we're talking strictly 3G, folks may have a point-- but it is 2010, and AT&T now covers over 300 million people with voice and data. What that means is that 99% of the places you go, you're going to have access to basic services.

How to save battery life on Android phones!! Must have app.

Download APNdroid from the market.

Android: When you're asleep, at an event, or otherwise indisposed, you don't need your battery-draining data connection, but you might still want to take phone calls. Free Android app APNdroid can selectively turn off your data access while allowing calls.

The app's design is a clever one, as activating APNdroid from its app button simply activates the on/off switch for GPRS, EDGE, and 3G networks, allowing you to use the APNdroid icon as a kind of widget on your Android screens. You obviously won't be able to surf the web or sync Google services while your data services are off, or send MMS messages. You will, however, have basic phone functionality, and your battery will probably live a bit longer...

I purchased the Motorola Backflip

I love it.

I could care less about the Google removal.

And it wasn't meant to be a high end Android phone.

But my question, can I disable MotoBlur?

It's murdering my battery. I'm fine accessing FB through the regular App.

I was't sure how to do it though. Would I just deactivate the MotoBlur account online?

TIA

Using MobileMe Without the iPhone

Bare with me while I get to my question.

I have Apple MobileMe and I like it a lot. I've been using it for almost a year now. I know the web mail interface can be slow at times ☹️

I use my iPod Touch with MobileMe and it's great how the email, contacts and calendar apps on the Touch work with MobileMe.

I'm already an at&t customer, and my plan was to get the iPhone for the same features, but I'm wondering if I could access MobileMe features using a different smartphone. I'm guessing I could use IMAP for the email, but what about the contacts and calendar?

Any ideas from any of you?

Transferring contacts for new customer

I'll soon be making the switch to ATT when my current plan expires. I'ts been a loooooonnnng time since I have switched carriers and I'm not fully up on all the services available during the process.

I thought I read a comment here that mentioned the corperate store transferring contacts. Does that mean when I make the switch, the stores have the ability to transfer all the contacts between the other carriers SIM and my new one? That would save so much time as my whole family have built up pretty lengthy lists and I would hate to "hand-jam" all those contacts again.

AT&T, I am divorcing you (again) only this time, it's final.

Dear AT&T,

In January I divorced you and married T-Mobile. Well married is the wrong word because I didn't sign a commitment with T-Mobile. So let's just say I shacked up with T-Mobile. Then, to save money, I came back to you. Well my dear, the shoddy service and call quality is just more than I can handle.

So I am divorcing you again, only this time, I am getting remarried to another carrier. So hasta la vista, baby!

Yeah Right....

if you don’t care about the story and just came here looking for the short answer: you can bypass the social security number by using the following number instead: 141-11-1111. this is the number at&t uses internally for cases where they want to permit customers to bypass the ssn field. your phone will be registered but you have two options: either you can pay a security deposit of $90 to $1000 ( since they can’t run a credit check without a ssn) or you can register for a pre-paid plan.

for those interested in the story, a friend of mine bought an iphone last week but when he went to activate it (he didn’t want to jailbreak/sim-free it), he ran into a problem: the registration process requires a social security number b...

Ipad yay, or nay

I have mixed emotions about the Ipad. I think its a great idea, however being a RSC for at&t I don't see anything in it for me. No contract so I don't get paid on the new activation, as usual I don't get any money for selling the actual product, but thats how it is for all phones. Its only has a $30 MRC, so that means my MRC will **** the bed if I sell alot of them, not to mention my FPO will go into the crapper also cause you cant really attach any feats to it. I just hope apple has some cool accessories to sell with so I can make some money on this thing. If not then I will still push netbooks over the Ipad cause I get paid better on it.

AT&T's IPhone Exclusivity May Be Renewed

Credit Suisse

OUR ANALYSIS SUGGESTS THAT Apple (ticker: AAPL) will eventually sell the iPhone at all carriers; however, there is a much greater probability that AT&T (T) keeps exclusivity for another 12 to 18 months than investors realize. We think this has profound impacts for Apple, the carriers and the other handset original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).

We see four possible scenarios in 2010: 1) AT&T's existing exclusivity agreement does not expire; 2) it expires but Apple/AT&T renew for another year; 3) it expires, but Apple does not make a CDMA version (only AT&T and T-Mobile [a unit of Deutsche Telekom (DT) can sell it); 4) it expires and Apple makes a CDMA version (all carriers can sell it).

Our framework det

4 abilities at&t needs to give to authorized retailers.

1. Let us see a customers PUK code rather than wasting a SIM card or having to a pay a call center rep to give it to us.

2. Give us the ability to add txt/data restrictions on a customers account. Once again. Waste of customer/my/call center rep time to call in and have it done.

3. Let us back date a plan to the beginning of a bill cycle. Contrary to popular belief most of us know how to explain what a pro-rated bill is.

4. iPhone!

Anything else I'm forgetting. Please add to the list.

Confused (Bold 9700)

For the most part it seems the phone has gotten terrific reviews with the exception being a terrible internet. Why don't people just download the opera mini and void that issue?

HTC Desire

Just wondering if anyone has heard anything more about whether this is coming to AT&T? I'm tired of seeing all these other high end phones going to competitors and AT&T just kind of sitting back and doing nothing.
I have an Iphone now, but would like to upgrade to something else and this phone looks very cool. 🤤

3G maps: AT&T vs. Verizon

So, seeing as I have been working for AT&T for awhile, and I was tired of being in the dark about the validity of the Verizon commercials that talk about AT&T's lack of 3G coverage, I did some detective work of my own. This is what I have concluded. But please correct me if I am wrong...

The map of our 3G coverage is the true map on the commercials.

The map of Verizon's 3G coverage is not their 3G map.

The map they show is in fact their EVDO map (End Voice Data Only.)

If you go on to the AT&T website, you can check both the voice coverage as well as the 3G coverage for your specific location.

If you go on to the Verizon website, you can check the voice coverage only.

If you try to check the 3G coverage for your location on...

Sorry AT&T but

I have to end things between us, no no its not you its me, I just cant pay $30 for a data plan to have an Android phone, well I cant pay it for a 2G plan. You see I dont live in Montgomery or Birmingham and yet you still want to charge me for the data plan that only the people living there can get. Like I said its not you, its me. I am sure there are a lot of customers that dont mind paying for something they are not getting, I am just not one of them,so as of today I am taking my numbers to Verizon, to get a couple of Droids, I know I will have to pay for the data plan with them as well, but see I dont mind as much cause with them I am getting what I pay for. Thanks again but its over...

Anybody on ATT own the N1?

I'm wondering how an unlocked Android smartphone works on ATT. With reguards to mms & internet settings, and access to the Android market.

Is everything smooth & simple? Yes, I know only EDGE will work on ATTs network, my question isn't about EDGE Vs 3G. It's about how simple is mms & internet settings on an unlocked Android smartphone.
