This is most excellent news from an author I've heard in a long time

Jon Fortt, the author of the online site The Utility Belt, has bounced from Verizon Wireless to Sprint. I'll let you hear right from the horse's mouth so to speak...

Ditching Verizon Wireless for Sprint:

The sweet data deal

"I was already itching to ditch Verizon (VZ).
My wife and I had switched from Sprint (S) two years ago, because Sprint service was spotty in the apartment where she lived before we got married. But it was time to switch back.

Two years back we got on a Verizon Wireless family plan and commenced to paying through the nose – between $155 and $170 per month, typically – for two lines with enoug...

Way to go Sprint Nextel!!! Kudos to all!

Looks like raycarroll70 has something to be proud about people. This was taken from a full page ad in today's Washington Post...

Thanks to every single Sprint Nextel employee. Because of your tireless dedication to our customers, the plan is working:

> BETTER THAN EVER. The Sprint National Network has earned top
honors for the fewest dropped calls of national carriers as rated
by a third-party independent study.

> LARGEST, FASTEST MOBILE BROADBAND NETWORK. The Sprint
network is the largest, fastest mobile broadband network in the country,
including over 10,000 cities and over 1,000 airports.

> HAPPIER CUSTOMERS. The Nextel network has reached
best-ever status for call quality, has the lowest ever dropped
and blocked call...

Info on Data Roaming

I have confirmed with sprint that with the newest PRL if sprint doesn't have EVDO coverage and Alltel does you will goto alltel's EVDO before sprint 1xrtt. I am in an area that alltel has EVDO and sprint doesn't. At first I thought sprint was turning it on here but it was alltels EVDO I have been on.

Idea for phone UI

What route do you guys think would be the best to take to divulge my idea to the powers that be? Sprint, or the actual manufacturers?

POS A560

I can't believe the idiots that work for Sprint Customer Service. I now see the poor reviews that the Samsung A560 received. All the cons that have been mentioned are absolutely true. When I called CS and complained about my phone that's under warranty, I was told that by receiving the free phone which is low end that I should expect lesser service. I was floored that a "supervisor" actually admitted that. Now they're refusing to do anything about it. Upon his reason for my troubles, I even let him know that if that's the case I will gladly upgrade to a higher end phone...but I would expect to be able to do so at the 2 year upgrade price. Especially since my low end phone with known bad service is less than a year old. Is there any r...

Sprint Novatel Wireless Broadband Card ... Help !!!

I've got the card and it works great ... BUT ...it's screwed up my desktop dial-up with IE7.

I can no longer double-click the IE7 Icon on the desktop and initiate dialing to execute internet browsing. I get back "SERVER NOT FOUND" and it doesn't even try to dial.

Unless I'm using the card (which I don't have access to all the time) the only way I can access the internet is by going through Outlook Express (and it gives me an error message also after getting connected - but I click on Send/Receive it'll work).

I tried re-establishing IE7 as my default browser but IE7 doesn't give you a chance ... it just asks for a checkmark if IE7 is NOT the default !

I talked to HP support (for my PC) and all they could say was "uninstall IE7...

Is EV-DV dead?

Whatever happened to EV-DV? In 2003, when Verizon opted to pursue the EV-DO path, Sprint initially snubbed EV-DO in favor of the more efficient EV-DV path. Of course, while Sprint waited upon EV-DV to be developed, Verizon launched EV-DO and it became clear that if Sprint did not get into the EV-DO game they would fall far behind. Sprint did enter the fray and quickly launched EV-DO. Sprint's progress is quite impressive considering its late start. Now that EV-DO Rev A with VoiP is the latest standard, I wonder if Sprint will still pursue the EV-DV path? This is further complicated by Wi-MAX. I am still of the opinion that the Nextel merger was a mistake and am unsure if Sprint is not simply being stubborn. It seems that they are spr...

Buh-bye Sprint

Today, I have put my two weeks notice in. I am relocating to where there is no Sprint corporate, just ShenTel (iPcs), I am going to finally go and finish my graduate degree at James Madison University, and move towards my doctorate. I am moving to Comcast and might soon be affiliated with Sprint again.

This will end my 7 year stint in the wireless industry. I am sure I will pop back in here from time to time.

Sprint web site

I just signed up as a new user. I am very disappointed with the quality of Sprint's web site. These are the problems:

1. I have been a customer for three days. But the sign up process still doesn't work completely. It cannot find my profile. I have to go through the process of retrieving my password. After a retrieving, I can log on for one time only.

2. There is a new bill for first month plus activation fees. But I cannot retrieve that page to see what are charged. It returns an error saying "www.spring.comnull" is not recognized. Apparently that is a mislink.

3. If go through "Support", then "Contact us", then click "Email", then an "Email Sprint Support" page is shown. On that page, if I selected as a current customer, it asks m...

New customer question

I currently have Cingular and possibly coming back to Sprint. Question: i know the old roaming rule was that 50% of talk had to be on Sprint network. I saw the new plans (450 minutes for 39.99) and called in to inquire. The rep told me that the roaming rule no longer exists. As long as you have service you can use your phone. So....does anyone know about this? I don't want to port over and use my phone then find out that i will be terminited becuase i roamed to much. any help??

I love customers.

Just got off the phone with a lady telling me how much Sprint sucks because:

1) If I change my plan they make me agree to a new 2 year contract

2) If I cancel my service I have to pay a fee

3) Sprint rips people off by randomly changing my bill.

I love ignorant people. The woman is mad at Sprint because she's on welfare.

Any New Phones Soon?

My brother and I are thinking about joining but don't know which phone to get. Is there any high end phones on the horizon so we should wait to join? The M1 isn't as high end as Sony or Nokia's you can get with GSM.
