I just bought a Motorola v80 off of eBay. I got it to replace my v400 (with Cingular) because the old one fell in the toilet.

The thing is... I actually ordered a v690, which specifically said it was unlocked.. they were out (the company is CellMall, cellmall@yahoo.com) and they offered me the v80 instead.

It came yesterday and I popped my SIM card in and nothing happened. I can't get it to pick up a signal.

I took the sim card out of my old v400. It recognizes that it's my number and all that... but no service whatsoever.

My aunt got a new phone also (because I was getting a new one, she wanted one, too), a Panasonic G70 from a different company, and it has the same symptoms.

This what I do: I listen to music contantly, play guitar and sing in band, write songs and poetry, read poetry. Go to shows everyone weekend(Local and Big Concerts), workout, and of course use my unlimited movie pass at Blockbuster and watch tons of movies as well as go see movies.

I have an old Nokia 6200 that I would like to find the unlock code for so I can use it at work instead of getting my 6230 beat up while at work. I have tried calling Nokia (as Shayby and Jackie reccommended) and they were useless. They refused to give me anything.

This phone used to be my dad's phone, and he completed his contract with AT&T. Shouldn't there be a way that I can call blue customer service and get this code???? If not, does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can get this code since Nokia was no help at all?

I saw here in November that the 5600, or it's successor model, was under review by Cingular and would possibly be released by Q1 this year.

Wondering if anyone has a more recent update on status of that smartphone? They are widely available in Taipei for about $250 - if I thought it would work here I'd go ahead and buy one over there.

I had a customer who's analog phone wasn't working, I don't think I've ever even seen an analog phone 😕 . CSP was no help, thankfully I got a tech rep who knew something about them.

I am new to GSM (always had Sprint and VZW) and I am very curious as to the benefits of unlocking a GSM phone. What benefit does this provide for me?

From what I have read, it means that I can use the phone with any carrier instead of being bound to 1 carrier and having to buy a new phone if I wish to leave that carrier. But I have no plans on leaving Cingular, so would there be any benefit for me to unlock my phone? Please fill me in on all of the benefits of having an unlocked phone vs. a locked phone.

Also, I just got the Nokia 6230 and I am having second thoughts after reading many good things about the 6620. Is the 6620 worth the extra money, or should I just keep the 6230 (because I am VERY happy with the size of the 6230)???...

from what i have been reading on there that site is of no use, there is no help there, all i find is reps talking about ripping cutomers off for insurance and stuff, i would love to see those people get caught for insurance fraud and fired as well, it is just rediculous, i dont see any help really going on a least at this point.


Phone Scoop has its uses but any user should be aware that it at times can be a gripe area for disgruntled reps as well as a gathering place for teeny-boppers who haven't found any other productive use for their time. As with all forums the user should be alert for misinformation (deliberate and otherwise) as well as the sound of grinding axes.

Someone ask something about a phone please!

I know 3 account holders who one has 3 services on an ATT shared plan (GSM), the second 2 on Cingular family plan (less than 30 days migrated) and lastly one person on an ATT plan (GSM).

All these accounts' holders don't known each other or associated in any way other than they know I work for Cingular.

The first account holder with 3 services began complaining of dropped calls for at least 4 weeks by now. They (all 3) claim that during a call unexpectedly goes dead air but looking at the phone counter and online view minutes the system claims more minutes of duration. For example a call that goes dead air within the first minute, the phone will appear continuation of such connection for at least another 2 minutes (which of course is i...

I'm dieing for the A630. What have you heard? Has there been any phone in the history of cingular that has been advertised, promoted, set up as an option on the web and then completely cancelled? If this happens to the a630 (GOD I HOPE NOT) what would be my best option. My requirement is a compact phone with a full qwerty and some good features. PDA combo would definitely be more than what I need and I've heard the LG F9100 is not good and seen that it has not gotten good reveiws. Suggestions?

i already posted this problem under a different subject. i have a NEC 525 phone with ATT and it doesnt have the 850 band, which i heard is the preferred cingular band. my calls get dropped about 90% of the time even when i am supposedly in FULL service. if i purchase an unlocked phone with the 850 band and put my sim card in it, will that help anything? i dont want to migrate to cingular because their plans are crappy and i have a great plan. are there any other suggestions for my problem? thanks

Did you guys know this phone was rated #1 on cnet? I never sell very many, but once you look at the features it seems like this phone has more bang for the buck than most other cingular phones. Right now it's around 79.99 but we've sold for around 49.99 before. This phone is a great value, but still goes pretty unnoticed.

I'm currently still with ATT and waiting for a good plan on cingular to switch over. i have 1050 minutes with early nights and unlimited mobile to mobile right now for $40. the problem is i get disconnected like its my job when i have full signal... so does anyone know when rate plans will increase by any chance? or any suggestions on my disconnection problems? thanks
