third-party charges

wondering if any of you've heard of this one:

Lady comes into our store to prepared for a switch to VZ(heh heh). She has Sprint(sorry). So do I, so I know how wonderful the CS dep. is. She obtained a new line in '06, new number, etc. and I will admit that she is not the most observant individual.

The number she had received had a joke a day feature from a third-party company on it: the charge was .99 a DAY. She has teenagers, so she was just thinking that the extra was voice overages. She checked recently, and found the true problem; the package. The kicker is that the package was put on sometime in '05, before she had the number, and she had blocked text messages when she purchased it. So . . . when she called CS, they told h...

Samsung M620 Wow!!!!!!!

UPS just dropped off our shipment of the phones and i have to say im highly impressed. I popped in my card with all my music and was up and running in no time. The music controls take a little getting used to but i must say i am impressed. Of course id like to see an activated model to play with, to get a feel for the call quality etc. Other than that i think it may be a winner.

Are there any phones on Sprint that can take videos for longer than 30 seconds to a minute, much like my i870 did?

better promotions at end or beginning of month?

I need to switch plans and have chosen to switch over to sprint. I was wondering whether the retail stores offer better promotions at the end of the month (for last minute comissions) or the beginning of the month (start of new promotions). Thanks.

Snuggles Samsung m620 Impressions

I demoed the phone today, don't think I will trade my M1 for it. The only real thing I like about it is the coolness factor. Flipping open the digital wallet like a Star Trek communicator. The front side screen is too small to do any real in depth messaging. To change sides you must push the flip button. However, the other side, despite having a huge screen, is a pain in the *** trying to navigate with the touch screen ipod copy cat interface. Give me a joystick any day. Furthermore, the speaker for the phone is rather low and I was unable to play music in any speakers on the phone like the M1 has dual stereo speakers.
The camera was nice, but the phone is just a hassle.

Pros:
Coolness factor like a Star Trek Communicator

Cons:
Fl...

When I thought things couldn't get any worse for Sprint!

AT&T, Qwest, MCI/Verizon: In. Sprint Nextel: Out.

The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) selected AT&T, Qwest and Verizon yesterday for the largest-ever federal telecommunications contract, valued at $20 billion over 10 years, with some estimates putting the figure around $48 billion. The contract, called Networx Universal, will overhaul the government's telecommunications services, including voice, Internet, wireless and video services for 135 federal agencies, both domestically and internationally. The winning three companies will still have to compete for individual contracts within the government agencies, but with the GSA's stamp of approval.

The decision yesterday came as a blow to Sprint Nextel, who also bid for the cont...

upstaging the iphone

At the CTIA we killed them with the samsung upstage and along with the price of music download going from 2.50 to .99 on april 1st as well, and industry analyst and device guru Avi Greengart, Current Analysis, said, β€œSprint is upstaging Apple because the iPhone is expected to be able to download songs only from a PC, not over the air.”

not to mention the price of the upstage is less then half that of the iphone

Dare I say it..

Wireless back up OWNS! I received the M500 as my insurance replacement and the first thing I did was sign up for wireless back up. How I wish the 920 had this feature! It would have save me a lot of frustration and time!

Will New Verizon+Alcatel-Lucent Beat Sprint+WiMax?

With verizon upgrading their network giving it a 6Billion boost with VoIP and video telephony services. Will that be more than enough to compete with Sprint's new 4g Wimax? Will verizon be the first to have video cellular calling in the US......?

Do I have Sprint coverage?

Well, the maps at sprint.com show an array of maps for coverage in my area. I'm in St. Clairsville, OH...zipcode 43950. The powersource maps show both sprint and nextel coverage, and the power vision shows great coverage on the increased download speeds. Sounds great so far, but when zooming in, it shows the 120 day coverage with the striped area. Is it safe to say that the coverage is there, or should I call and ask what the case may be?

If anyone can help determine if the Sprint coverage with EVDO is already there, it is appreciated. Thanks.

Samsung A920 insurance claim

Can you believe that you get an m500

imo, it is not a fair enough exchange. No stereo speakers, no external mp3 controls, no light for the camera.

what is your take on that?
