The Sprint dilemma

Okay folks, need help on a small quandry. Kind of like a 'what would you do' scenario.

One of the two phones on my account has about had it. When you open the flip, it takes some shaking and time to get the back-light lit. And some other small issue(s) that I'm sure will grow in time. My contract for the two phones does not expire w/ SPCS till Nov07 so I only qualify for the $75 rebate dealie. Now just getting one phone won't do it because the wife would like a RAZR... Here's the dilemma, if you were me and SPCS would charge you full retail for the phone(s) minus the rebate bringing it down to $200/ea wouldn't it be cheaper to just port out, get a free RAZR from VZW or someone else and pay the $300 ETF???

Battery Life

I'd like a phone that can hold a very long battery life, especially around medical areas like in hospitals and with alot of use on camera, text and web. Or at least can get an extended battery.

The future of Sprint??

With the laying off of 5000 employees it will be interesting to see what will become of Sprint in the next year. Anyone care to speculate on what they think may happen?

Sprint vs. Cingular vs. TMobile

I ran across this and will post it for anybody that is interested:

Here we go...
Cingular Wireless: decent amount of handsets (wish there were more with HSDPA speeds) and very good coverage. However, HSDPA was still not available on my home market (which is a smaller one), and EDGE just does not cut it, even for handset browsing and such where a lot of data is involved or picture messaging is used. Regular prices for voice are competitive, as I used the 450 minutes/$39.99 a month plan. Data services are a little pricey for the actual value, as MEdia Works for $19.99 -- which comes with an SMS bundle -- still does not give unlimited data. Yikes. Also, forcing some of Cingular's handsets to "roaming" on the fringe of Cingular coverage was ...

SPRINT WILL NOT BE CHARGING FOR WAP BROWSING... at least not yet

in an effort to maintain only the most up-to-date information posted on this here forum, let it be known that while there WERE documents sent out stating that Sprint would be charging $1.00/day for non-Sprint asanctioned WAP browsing starting 01/22/07, Sprint has now gone back on that decision. they may implement this at a later time, but until then, customers still have the ability to download oversized, non-compressed, non-encrypted, possibly dangerous ringtone files for free. enjoy.

Sprint WiMax: $55, Open Access?

When Sprint launches their WiMax service in Chicago and DC sometime in early 2008, users should see speeds somewhere around 2-4Mbps for an estimated $55, company executives guessed recently. What's more, it looks like the company will be embracing an open access model -- as in they will treat the connections like home broadband lines. They won't limit your content options with the walled gardens and other restrictions you see with some cellular carriers. There's some hemming and hawing here. Sprint apparently hasn't decided whether to start with an open network or open the network up gradually.

SID question

I have a LG PM225. When looking at my home SID it's listed as 4139. But my phone is at 4396. Would the difference cause any reception issues? Thanks in advance.
