AT&T drops T-Mo bid
AT&T says it is ending its $39 billion bid to buy T-Mobile USA after facing fierce government objections.
The cellphone giant said Monday that the actions of the government to block the deal do not change the challenges of the wireless phone industry, which it says requires more airwaves to expand.
AT&Tโs purchase of T-Mobile from Deutsche Telekom of Germany would have made it the largest cellphone company in the U.S. AT&T is currently the countryโs second-largest wireless carrier, while T-Mobile is the fourth-largest.
The Justice Department sued to block the merger on Aug. 31, saying it would reduce competition and lead to higher prices.
Last month, the companies withdrew their application to the Fed...

Upcoming Non Smart Phone Touch Screen Phones
I have two family members on my account that need a new phone.
They prefer a good sized touch screen phone.
The only ones that seems to appeal to them are the HTC freestyle, LG Encore and a few pantech phones.
Does anyone know if there are going to be any phones from samsung, HTC or LG soon?

Bold 9900 delayed cause ATT is a CONTROL FREAK!
...
One of the major reasons for the 9900 being delayed on AT&T is an ongoing debate between RIM and AT&T around the NFC implementation on the device. In the NFC world, the key component is the Secure Element (SE) and it holds the secure credentials (for e.g. the credit card number in case of NFC payments). The Issuer Security Domain controls the access to SE in terms of writing on to it. RIM is promoting a concept where they would hold the ISD, so RIM can roll out customized NFC services while AT&T wants ISD control on the devices that they roll out (this is in relation to the larger ISIS NFC payment project that they are a part of). AT&T Nexus Prime Rumors? Will It Be Replacing The Infuse?
With it's screen size and list of features it would be the ideal replacement/upgrade for the infuse.
International Roaming.
Verizon has a notification on their website that says: Verizon Wireless will terminate your service for good cause if less than half of your voice or data usage over three consecutive billing cycles is on the Verizon Wireless National Enhanced Services Rate and Coverage Area.
Does that mean that verizon would NOT be a good choice for me to stay with. Is AT&T the same way? I don't want to rent a phone or get pre-paid international service if i can avoid it.
Any input?
Galaxy S II Accessories That Come With It In The Box - South Texas Region Availability
The infuse comes with an HDMI adapter, earbuds, a two gig card, data cable and 3.5 inch adapter.
What does the galaxy sII come with?
Am I going to have to buy each item separately?
Also I am here in the austin texas area and none of the corporate stores, at&t dealers, walmarts, targets or radio shacks have received theirs yet.
I keep getting told there is a email memo that for the first two weeks it's an online exclusive for at&t.
Every store I go into can only order it online and have it shipped to me but the wait to have it shipped is five to eight days.
Because of the security bug has the mass release to the stores been delayed?

Galaxy S2 or Blackberry Torch 9810???
The main thing I like about the galaxy is the FM radio, but that is not a deal sealer or killer.
The BB battery is excellent, while using Wifi and BT. The size is also great as is the full keyboard.
I guess in the end it will be personal preference, but I may be missing something so Iรยขรขโยฌโขd love to get some feedback form anyone with experience with either device.
Oh, I am getting the Samsung tomo...
