ive used the phone

yup: we got them in the stores a while ago. i only played with it for a little bit. i can tell you basically that the size of the phone is roughly the same as the 7000 or the 710. The speaker phone is better than most audiovox's but still not as loud as LG or Motorola. I doubt that you will be able to use the speakerphone feature while DRIVING in the car. The road noise is prob gonna be overpowering. The camera quality is GREAT! It took perfect color, very sharp pictures. i was very impressed. The screen is also very nice. It is sharp and clear. I would own this phone if it only had a louder speaker phone and removable memory.

Keep V710 or return it and wait for the 9900?

I just found this thread on the 9900 and am still evaluating the V710. I basically like the phone, except for two issues which are pretty grave for me....1) external display will not stay on and you cannot see time or missed messages w/o hitting a button or opening the phone 2) earpiece design makes it difficult to hear w/o constantly adjusting the phone by your ear. However, I love the voice dialing combined with the speakerphone. I clip it to my visor and the Speakerphone stays on after I end my call (unlike the Audiovox 8900 which turns the speakerphone off after each call - according to the manual).

So what I want to know is if anyone has a clue to whether the 9900 will have a properly designed external display that will show my mi...

EMS/MMS?

can someone confirm that this phone does NOT have EMS/MMS capability (as is indicated in the phone's info)? This seems odd, and seems to make a picture phone kinda pointless (in my opinion).

Forget theAudiovox9900 its over 8 months late and maybe a year

Forget about the Audiovox 9900 we been talking about this phone last Feb 2004 and sprint had it a long time ago.Why wait 8 months till at least a year before getting it because there will be other phones out with the same features i hope,I have always like audiovox toshiba but why wait at least a year when Lg samsung and others will have their newest phones out I hopeeeeee. Was thinking of buying this phone at a premium when it hit the streets in March 2004 but i ratter stay with verizon and get a $100 off in Dec 2004 for the 2 years i was with them .And they are giving me another $100 in Dec 2005 off a new phone also.I think its best to wait till Dec then i hope there will be more of a selection.Johnny Feedback

Proof that its september 7th

I work for an indirect agent of verizon and on an internal site called infocenter it lists the details of every single Verizon phone including ones soon the be released. It lists the date as September 7th for the release. Here is a website of the launch promo and for the phone itself. These links may not work because its linked from an internal website but its worth trying.

Ringer ID?

Is there any type of ringer id on this phone? By individual OR group? I know the 9950 (or Toshiba 4050) has one, but some places say this (9900) phone has it and some say it doesn't...does anyone know FOR SURE?

Thank you...I'm very curious!

Release Date/Price Information

"The 9900 will launch on September 7th [2004]. It will be $229.99 with 2-year [agreement and a] $70.00 rebate. $419.99 full retail."

The $229.99 is BEFORE the rebate... after rebate, $159.99.

I'm Just Curious...

I'm looking into getting the 9900 and I went to a local Sprint store and played with their 9950 and was wondering if the 9900 has any type of ringer id (by individual or profile)? I'm new to this stuff and like it says...I just want to know what I'm paying for. I have had the same phone for about 2 years now (Moto V60...I think!). If there is anymore information anyone can give me about how this phone performs I'd be willing to listen.

9900 Toshiba

I was told by Audiovox that the 9900 is made by Toshiba and very similar to the 9500. The 8600 and 8900 are made by a division of Hyundai. Supposedly nothing like these other two inferior products. If anyone knows anything more about this product or how the 9500 performed I'd love to hear it.

Sept. 7th is a definite!

I just spoke with a Verizon Wireless Spokesperson from 1-800-2-JOIN-IN and she assured me that the release date for the 9900 WILL be SEPT.7TH! She (Nancy) said it would be on all verizon shelves on the morning of the 7th.

Yeah, we all have high hopes, but there's the number call and hear the information for yourself!

I do have a question i forgot to ask the lady though...does this phone have any type of a ringer id, by group or individual? Just curious...I can't find anywhere that says yes OR no.

The 9950 has a middle button on top which is the MENU button and the 9900 doesn't...where is the MENU button on the 9900 then?

Call and hear it for yourself...I am reassured now and can wait until the 7th!

9900 accessories in my store

9900 dummy demo phones are in my store, along with accessories for the phone. We also have the rebates in the store. I guess the launch is near.

It sure was a far cry from March 2004 isn't it

When one looks at the history of this animal and all the false starts from 03/04 to date I am amazed we are actually going to see the Audiovox CDM-9900. Soooooo let's see what September 9th brings? 🤣

To all the doubting Thomas's

Ok, so there were like a dozen or so posts in here over the past few weeks that this phone was canceled.
Now we all know that it is coming out on Sept 7th for $229 -70 rebate = $159 for 2-year.
I would just like to add a special note to all those people who said that it was canceled:
There was never any official word from Audiovox or Verizon that it was hacked.
There are a lot a variables that go into play about when a phone is ready to come out.
Just because the VX7000 came out first did not mean that the CDM9900 got canceled.
It also goes to show you that unfortunately you can't always trust what you read on-line.

Carrier change

I notice they changed the carrier to Verizon on the info page.

Lotukei go back to page 14, 15, or 16 of this forum and come forward.

You might after glancing through those pages chose the LG VX 6000 rather than wait for Verizon to make a decision on the 9900. The 8000 should be out by Christmas. Lots a luck.
