Faceplates?
I saw a post where someone linked to replacement faceplates on eBay. Can anyone confirm if these are legit? Will they be sold in more reputable places eventually? Is it easy to take the front faceplate off the phone?
I've been babying the phone ever since I got it (~1 month ago; yes, I have the call log and contact issue š b/c I didn't want to scratch the screen, but if I can just get a new faceplate when it gets scratched then I'm going to love this phone even more.
Thanks for any info!

Bundled email app
Is anyone experiencing wierd issues with the email app that is bundled? I set up a mailbox for my GMail acct, but the messages disappear (haven't noticed yet how soon, but fairly quickly) from the phone. I tried resetting them to unread on GMail, but the phone wouldn't pull them back down.
I maybe should just buy a better app, but was just curious if anyone else was experiencing similar probs.

Checking Email... data transfer
I'm wondering if anyone knows typically how many kb of data is exchanged when email is being checked with the 6682... even if no headers are downloaded.
Just wanting to know how much it might cost when I'm paying $0.01 per KB.
Thanks

I was wondering does the transfer speed of the memorey really make a difference? Do you really need to get the more expensive stuff or does it not make a diff???

Is the problem Cingular or Audiovox? Is Nokia better?
I just switched from an LG vx3100 with Verizon to an Audiovox 5600 with Cingular. The sound quality of the new phone is horrible (tinny and low volume, like I'm talking in a tunnel). Is the problem with Audiovox or the Cingular network? Will switching to a Nokia (6682), still with Cingular, solve the problem? Audiovox seems better for synching to Outlook (also important to me) but the sound quality is unbearable.
Apologies for cross posting.

Just wondering...
I'm a little kooky about this, but if I ever remove the battery from my phone, I always power it off first.
My experience with Nokia in the past was that if you just yanked out the battery, you would have to reset the time/date.
I have wondered if this has anything to do with quirky phone issues.

the incredible Nokia6682
the phone is great! i read some user reviews here as well...I think Justin Cingular commented that it does not do rings for individuals. I would say it does considering i have bought 15 different music tones for people in my phone now (still loading others). the voicesignal feature is nice for voice command on calls, phonebook calls and quick link to text, but not quite needed. Been great reception for me and typical nokia long life battery. I still have more to figure out but the phone is the BOMB!
S710 vs. 6682
Alright, i love my s710, i should be getting my nokia within the next couple weeks. While not being discouraged (or distracted i should say) by the "hate" threads, i did have some ?'s for those who've had both models.
CAMERA - s710 or 6682, which is better?
BLUETOOTH - how many devices will it store?
WEB - xHTML or Full HTML?
MEMORY - expandable to what?
SPEAKER - loud/good quality?
VIDEO/PHOTO EDITOR - is it even worth using?
Thanks in advance.

Call Log Miracle
A couple of hours ago, I noticed an amazing change on my 6682. My call logs were NOT erased although my phone had been turned off several times in the last day as I played with getting my e-mail operational. I since powered my phone on/off a few more times to test; call logs still in tact. In addition, it does NOT ask me to reload contacts from the SIM.
I am still using the 64k SIM that came with my phone. I received my phone 3 weeks ago and the call log problem has been present from the first day.
A possible explanation comes from the Nokia rep in the Nokia experience store in NJ who recently told me that the he believes that the call logs for the 6682 reside on the network and are moved to the phone as requested. The documentation do...

one more glitch?
I have had the same problems with updating contacts and erasure of call logs as many of you have had, but I have an additional quirk whereby if a person who is entered in my call log calls me from any other than the first number listed, his name is not displayed. When I call that same person on a secondary number, the 6682 recognizes him by name however.
I've played around with defaults, etc., and nothing helps. I might also note that when my prior SIM was copied to my current one, previously consolidated numbers were seperated into different named entrees, i.e. Jim, Jim1 etc. Has anyone else encountered anything similar? Is there a fix at hand?

Issues Clarification.
ok, I actually moved over from Verizon for this, (actually I just wanted GSM) but I have been readin the forums on this phone since it was announced and I just need some clarification.
The only issues I have are the random asking me if I want to copy sim contacts to phone (or visa versa) and at the same time it seems to delete my call log histories. Havent really noticed anything else.
I have read some of the Nokia Developer forums with little mention of these issues, and I have NOT tried replacing the MMC card (I will start another thread on this) but is there anything else I should be looking for?
Really the only pain I am having is getting used to Symbian, as this is the first one for me.

Flaky DKU-2 cable connection on 6682
When I connect the 6682 to the DKU-2 cable that came with the phone, the cable locks in, but a slight wiggle of the cable (e.g., when setting the phone down on my desk) causes the electrical connection to fail. For example, when I plug in the cable, PC Suite says that the phone is connected, but when I set the phone down, PC Suite says the phone is disconnected. I can wiggle the cable every so slightly and the connection goes on and off.
Let me know please if you have had this problem. I want to know if it was a phone or cable problem. If this is a known cable problem, I'll ask Cingular to replace the cable instead of having to hassle with replacing the phone.
TIA.

Talked to Nokia About Problems
Hello
I called Nokia this evening and talked to someone about the problems I've had with my 6682. Here are the problems I described to the customer support person.
1. The call log completely clears itself out whenever I restart the phone.
2. It asks me to re-import the contacts on my SIM card when I go in to the contact manager for the first time after a restart.
3. It has crashed on me a few times, but nothing consistent.
4. My MMC card went corrupt while I was using it causing me to loose everything on it.
Her name was Barbie and she explained that he had not heard anything about problems with this phone; and, that several people at their office had one and were loving it.
She also talked to a guy in technical support...
