Nokia 6682 / 6681

I was on the Nokia site(Europe) looking at the 6681 and found something interesting.

You can download programs you may have lost(as you can on US 6682 site).

I saw:

* virus protection- one month trial included

* push to talk

* card games- solitarie, 4 different

* vpn program


Wow, and we don't get that stuff, why??

I cancelled my contract with Cingular for a full refund. But you know its been since Friday and Letstalk has not responded to my emails. I requested info for returning the phone. I am out only $150 to them, do you think they are just slow? 🙂

give them your email and they will put you on their priority list for the 1 GIG cards.

How do I copy everything from the memory card that came with the 6682 to a new 512mb card? Some of the apps don't copy over--like Opera, some of the office apps, etc. I tried it with a card reader and with also with Nokia 6.6 software. Can't get it to transfer.

After the 5 day free trial period I was prompted with "Buy full license, Price USD 14.99" when trying to open VoiceSignal. I have tried repeated to purchase it, but each time I get "Unable to display page" and eventually a note that my account was not charged. Unfortunately it WAS charged...five different times! I eventually exceeded the maximum direct bill allowed of $80.

Has anybody figured out how to purchase the full license for VoiceSignal? The Cingular customer service people are useless!

My phone seems to have developed an issue with Text Messaging. I first tried to send via PC Suite. Thought it was a PC Suite issue. PC Suite wont even open the text box, saying something about contacts. Says reinstall. So I have done that, twice. So I figure I will type it on the phone with Maxinote. Maxinote lets me type the text but after selecting contact, does not send. Tried opening the standard new text message window on the phone,
wont even open. Tried reply on a message in my inbox. Wont open the text message window *sigh*

OK Icy, it seems you are correct.

I have a 32k in my 6682, no issues.

I took the 64k out of my Treo 650, put it in the 6682, made some calls and the call logs were not there after a power cycle.

I have a feeling I'm missing something when trying to activate the phone to vibrate, if there was something wrong with the vibrate motor I feel like I'd hear it try to do something but alas, no noise at all when in silent mode.

Is there an app or a setting I could be missing?

I shipped my phone back today and went back to my Nokia 6620, what a disappointment 😢

Does anyone know how to disable the camera flash? I know you can go to options and disable it but everytime I press the shutter button a light briefly flashes. Im wondering if this is supposed to happen or mine has a bug.

It seems many of the issues i had been emailing you about (loss of

Is this true? If so are you actively working on it? & if/when a fix is

Does anyone know or have used the 6682 as a modem to connect onto the web?? I know that I was able to use my 6600 to connect to the web with my laptop.

Can someonhelp me!! I am currently using a jabra 250 bluetooth headset. When I press the talk button on the jabra, it doesn't do anything. I know that when I have my 6600, everytime I pushed the talk button on the jabra, it would make a noise and the screen would say speak now. But with the 6682, it doens't do that. It however, does work with the last number dialed feature. If you hold the jabra for a couple of seconds, and let go, it will redial the last number. But it won't allow me to do the voice dialing feature. Help!!

For Symbian newbies...
There was one that I was not aware of.
Once in a menu screen, using the number keys to open the app. Like #7 to open the app in the lower left hand corner, #1, upper left, etc.

I have been using several GPS mapping programs on a laptop for several years and find that the Wayfinder program on the 6682, Bluetooth GPS reciever works very well. Map coverage and detail is great in the US and Europe. I first used the program that came with the phone on Cingular and then upgraded to the newer version on the Wayfinder site. The talking feature is loud enough on the phone for handsfree driving directions in the car. Now I hope to find other Symbian programs I like as much.

Guys, just to keep everybody in the loop. I let Nokia know about this thread and that we think we have found the problem and a possible solution which involves unbranding the phone.

Here is their response:

LamaZ, we appreciate your submission regarding the firmware on your Nokia 6682 phone. This information has been forward to the correct department for review.

The firmware on your phone is determined by the phone's product code. Since your phone was sold by Cingular Wireless, we are contractually obligated to load the software that corresponds with the product code on your phone and their service.

You will not be able to get a generic or "unbranded" firmware loaded onto your phone at any time.
